Our classes are for beginners through intermediate and advanced students. The teachers are working ceramic artists who love what they teach. They share the skills and experience they have gained over the years. This allows you to build your pottery skills and express your artistic ideas. Through the classes children and adults explore their creativity using clay and learn lifelong artistic skills. Classes are 4 weeks long 2 hours per session. In order to be registered, you must complete the process and make payment through pay pal. Paypal accepts most credit cards.

About Our Classes
Parent/Child Pottery -
This is a family class where parents and children can come and be creative together. Over the four weeks, we cover hand-building techniques of pinch, coil, and slab. We also cover surface decoration and glazing. The focus of this class is having fun together while creating. Playfulness is strongly encouraged. Ages 5 & Up,

Come! Play in clay! This studio class will cover the basics of building ceramics by hand. It includes decorating, firing, and glazing, both functional (plates, cups, bowls) and sculptural ceramics. We tailor studio activities to individual interests and needs. Specific lessons/activities are available if needed. Ages 8 to 18

Beginning Handbuilding -
Learn the basics of hand-building and surface decoration. You learn to make functional dishes (cups, plates & bowls), decorative tiles, planters, and sculptures for your home, garden & gifts. Coil, slab, pinch construction, texturing, and glazing are covered. New weekly demonstrations help guide the projects, but you can develop personal projects.

Intermediate Handbuilding
This class is a progression from the beginning handbuilding class. It is designed as guided studio time for those who don’t yet feel ready to become members of ACAI and will include demos on techniques that will help students expand their skill set in working with clay. Students will spend time developing and diving deeper into projects they are interested in focusing on with guidance.

Decorative Techniques
In this class, learn to use various ceramic decorative techniques like sgraffito, wax resist, newsprint underglaze transfer, and more. This is for those who have taken recent ceramics classes and would like to explore techniques in decorating handbuilt or wheel-thrown pieces. This class will be held in the handbuilding room; you may use class time to handbuild pieces to work with but we will not have access to the pottery wheels. You may also bring in hard leather pieces or bisque ware from home or other classes to practice these techniques.

Beginning / Intermediate Throwing -
Curious about throwing pottery on the potter’s wheel? This fun and engaging introductory class will give you the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls, and more. We cover the fundamental skills of wedging, centering, pulling, and shaping pieces on the wheel. You will learn about the process of creating with clay, including trimming, glazing, and firing. Each class includes demonstrations and hands-on instruction.

Valentine Making -
Get ready to make a one-of-a-kind Valentine. Make your gift or ceramic valentines in this 2-day class. The first day will be making several Valentine pieces, and the following week, you will glaze the valentines that you made.
